At the initiative of the British and Ukrainian embassies in the Netherlands and with the support of the Media Initiative for Human Rights, the Ukraine Witness Testimony Event was held in The Hague, during which witnesses to Russia's war crimes in Ukraine told their stories of abduction and illegal detention.

Terrorism and attempted arson of a person: what the Russians accuse Kostiantyn Zinovkin from Melitopol of and where he is held

The Russians occupied Melitopol in the first days of the full-scale invasion. They immediately seized the administrative buildings and started dispersing pro-Ukrainian protests with weapons, abducting local residents and holding them hostage. Kostiantyn Zinovkin, who stayed in Melitopol to care for his mother and grandmother, was not spared either.

The Case of Leontyev and Motuzenko: How People Were Abducted and Tortured in Nova Kakhovka

A court in Odesa is examining one of the first cases involving the capture and illegal detention of Ukrainian civilians in the occupied territories. The trial is against the so-called occupation “mayor” of Nova Kakhovka and an “aide to the head of the DPR”. Among the victims are residents of Kherson Region.

General Lapin’s headquarters: the occupation of Chernihiv Region through the eyes of a local resident

Olena Kovalyova manages the Community Center in Terekhivka. While under occupation, this village served as a temporary home for Russian Colonel General Alexander Lapin, the then commander of the Central Military District of the Russian Federation. MIHR visited Terekhivka to find out what happened there and to document the war crimes committed by the Russian military.
