Sofiia Krasnikova

Graduated from V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University with a degree in Journalism. Started working as a news editor for the MG “Ob’yektyv” website during her first year of studies.
After the full-scale invasion began, she moved to Kyiv and became involved in volunteering with the NGO “Brave to Restore.” Later, she realized she wanted to further channel her knowledge and skills to help the country. This led to her “match” with the Media Initiative for Human Rights.

Monitoring of unlawful court cases against Ukrainian prisoners of war, conducted by the Media Initiative for Human Rights (MIHR), shows that courts in the occupied territories mostly convict POWs for "murders," while courts in Russia hand down verdicts based on "terrorism" charges.

Roman Ishchenko was abducted from his own home on April 19, 2022. For three years, he has remained incommunicado. The Russians have not filed any charges against him and refuse to disclose where he is being held.
